FLAME European Centre for the Safeguarding of Living Heritage
FLAME supports the implementation of the UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, in Europe and beyond.
Building on the strong synergies and collaborations that have grown across Europe in recent years around the Convention, FLAME focusses on deepening and expanding these efforts as an aspiring UNESCO Category 2 Centre.
Based in Europe, FLAME also reaches beyond the region — connecting across borders to share knowledge, exchange experience, and strengthen safeguarding worldwide.

FLAME is a European centre of expertise dedicated to collaborative safeguarding of living heritage, contributing to the global mission of cultural sustainability for the wellbeing of all.
As a driving force and dynamic hub, FLAME celebrates the diversity of today’s living heritage and convenes a broad spectrum of stakeholders – ranging from policymakers to practitioners, alongside an expanding array of societal partners.
Guided by the principles and instruments of the UNESCO 2003 Convention, FLAME fosters and promotes inclusive practices within living heritage networks both across Europe and globally.
